Pieremachochel

Pieremachochel is a Dutch folk dance group from Utrecht, thas keeps a piece of the rich Dutch folk dance tradition alive. They do this by performing dances and by dancing together with the audience. The group consists of about ten male dancers, ten female dancers and four musicians.

The form of a performance depends of the situation. Sometimes it consists only of performances, but often the audience can join in in some simple dances.

Pieremachochel always dances to live music played by its own orchestra. The musicians play, amongst others, concertina, mandola, violin and accordion.

The costume of Pieremachochel is from Westkapelle (in the province of Zeeland), where it is still worn by some.
